Agriculture drones can help farmers win the war on weeds in a cost efficient and timely manner - once they're legal to use. Two publications report recently reported on a joint project by InventWorks and Boulder Labs. For the full Boulder County Business story, click here. For the Boulder Daily Camera story, click here. Since these stories were written, the InventWorks agricultural drone project has been spun into a seperate company, Agribotix. Navigate over to www.agribotix.com to stay up to date.

My interest in engineering and energy stemmed from growing up through the 1973 and 1979 "energy crises" in the US.  My first engineering job was at the Solar Energy Research Institute (now called NREL) working primarily on biofuel projects.  My time at a research laboratory taught me that (a) I liked doing energy research and (b) I'd better get an advanced degree.  So I headed east to MIT where I focused my efforts on combustion chemistry.

PhD in hand, I went on to a faculty position at the Colorado School of Mines, where I had the privilege of working with a large number of talented students on projects ranging from energy to materials to computational chemistry.  In fact, the core of the InventWorks merry band is made up of colleagues from CSM.  While I enjoyed my two decades in academia, I was ready for new challenges in the entrepreneurial world.  So when the opportunity came to fire up InventWorks I jumped in with both feet.
